Rwenzururu King Commissions Committee for 58th Coronation and 15th Recognition Anniversary 2024

In a move that underscores the enduring significance of cultural heritage and leadership, His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, the Omusinga (King) of Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu (OBR), has commissioned a special committee to oversee the 58th Coronation and his 15th Recognition Anniversary, scheduled for October 19, 2024, in Kasese Municipality. 

This milestone event, marking over five decades of the Rwenzururu Kingdom’s existence, promises to be a momentous occasion for the Bakonzo people and the wider Rwenzururu community.

The announcement was made on 20th August 2024 at Rwenzori International University in Kasese town, where the Deputy Prime Minister of OBR, Rt. Hon. Baritazale Kule Benson read the King’s message to the Cabinet Ministers. 

The committee, which will steer the planning and execution of the coronation celebrations, is headed by the former Prime Minister of OBR, Rt. Hon. Constantine Bwambale, a seasoned leader with deep roots in the Kingdom’s administration. 

He is deputized by Hon. Noah Nzaghale, with Hon. Geoffrey Kanyonyi serving as Secretary, Hon. Patrick Muhesi Baluku as Treasurer, and Rt. Hon. Baritazale Kule Benson as an adviser to the committee.

Other distinguished committee members include Hon. Juliet Best Ferigo, Hon. Aganatiya Katya, Hon. Dr. John Baluku, Hon. Lucy Kabanyoro, and Hon. Gad Kelmon, among others. 

Together, they bring a wealth of experience and dedication to the task of ensuring that the upcoming coronation and anniversary are celebrated with the grandeur and reverence befitting the OBR’s rich cultural heritage.

Strengthening Cultural Heritage and Unity

The 58th Coronation and the 15th Recognition Anniversary come at a time when the OBR is looking to strengthen its role as a custodian of cultural heritage and as a unifying force amongBakonzo people.
