In a significant effort to combat computer illiteracy in local schools, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has fulfilled his 40 full sets of computers pledge to Bwambara Secondary School in Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri district.
The computers were yesterday Wednesday officially handed over to Bwambara Secondary School administration for use by the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament and the Security Minister Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim K Muhwezi.
This initiative comes as schools adapt to the new lower secondary curriculum, which emphasizes hands-on skills and the incorporation of ICT training.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Jim Muhwezi highlighted the government’s commitment towards bettering education in Uganda.
He urged students to embrace values that will lead to success in life and these include discipline, integrity and strategic positioning, which can facilitate breakthroughs in their careers.

Tuhirirwe Justin, the School head teacher expressed her gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Hon. Jim Muhwezi who followed up the pledge, noting the challenges they face with limited resources and internet access.

Despite having a school population of over 300 students, Ven. Canon. George Bazahuza, the Archdeacon Bwambara Archdeaconry acknowledged the challenges posed by lack of computers and expressed optimism that the new resources will alleviate these issues.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pledged these computers in 2018, but they didn’t receive them because no one followed up on the issue.
However, Jim Muhwezi followed up on the issue until it was resolved after winning the general election in 2021, according to Christopher Kagayano, the chairperson of LC3 for Bwambara Sub County.
