There was a lot of joy and excitement as Kyamakanda Secondary School celebrated 40 years of success and high-quality education in Buyanja Town Council, Rukungiri District.
A gratitude ceremony, a fundraising campaign for a proposed multipurpose block expected to cost 2.98 billion shillings, and the official opening of a new building were all featured during the event.

Retired Bishop Emeritus Tugume Tusingwiire, representing Bishop Onesmas Asiimwe the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese as the main celebrant, drew inspiration from Exodus 23:15 to reflect on the significance of the past forty years.
He pointed out that, much like the Israelites spent forty years in the desert to become closer to God, the school community has similarly laid a strong foundation for coming generations.
The current head teacher of Kyamakanda Secondary School, David Kapiira, expressed gratitude to the government for the prompt release of the capitation grant and the posting of teachers, both of which support the efficient operation of the school.
Kapiira outlined the difficulties the school is facing, especially lack of infrastructure.

Kyomukama advised the head teacher to make a list of the most pressing requirements and get in touch with the Ministry of Education for immediate action.
Minister Jim Muhwezi donated 200 bags of cement towards the construction of a multi-purpose block.
