Rukungiri municipality hopeful Mayor Boaz Matiita urges Ugandans to empower boy child

Kansiime Boaz Matiita the Rukungiri municipality hopeful mayor has asked parents and Ugandans at large to advocate for the boy child in order to build stable communities.

Kansiime was presiding over the 10th graduation ceremony of 101 top class pupils at Kinyasano Boarding Primary School in Western Division Rukungiri municipality.

According to Boaz, most gender-based violence cases are a result of poor grooming and paying less attention to the boy child.

He said that fathers play a crucial role in shaping their children’s moral compass, providing discipline, and grounding them.

Matiita went on that the absence of a father figure can lead to boys and girls lacking the discipline and moral guidance that a balanced parental structure provides.

“Give attention to the boy child as well to produce well-molded husbands for our girls in the future. It does not sound right to give attention to only girls and after all the energy spent, they go meet the poorly brought up husbands.” Matinta noted.

From his perspective, Matiita said that it all began when the country started heavily promoting women’s emancipation and advocating for women’s rights in a way that has unintentionally sidelined men.

He added that it’s not that advocating for women is wrong, but somewhere along the way, people lost balance, and the boy child has been left behind.

However, Matiita said one unintended consequence has been the neutralization of men’s masculinity and the marginalization of boys and men in key societal spaces.

Kansiime Boaz Matiita however, supported the school with Ugx. 2M.
