Kebisoni Greater beat Nyakishenyi Sub County to win this year’s Mathious Rwabugumi’s boda boda football tournament in finals played at Buyanja playground in Rukungiri district yesterday Friday.
Kebisoni Greater emerged triumphant in 2-0 results.
Mathious Rwabugumi boda boda football tournament is a grassroots sports initiative aimed at bringing boda boda riders together for socio-economic purposes and has been a symbol of fostering a spirit of unity in Rubabo County and the district as a whole.
The tournament was officiated by Prof. Mondo Kagonyera who was represented by Dr. Augustin Matsiko.
It registered a huge turn-up of football fans and supporters of Hon. Mathious Rwabugumi who came to witness the function.
Addressing hundreds of spectators after the match, Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious Rwabugumi who eyes for Rubabo County Member of Parliament on NRM ticket expressed his delight and congratulated all the teams and players for showcasing great talent and resilience throughout the tournament.
Mwesigwa Mathious stated that instead of ceasing to support talent at this level, he will ensure that Rubabo connects with national and international football teams since sports are now considered as profession where people can earn a decent salary

Representing Prof. Mondo Kagonyera as the chief guest, Dr. Augustin Matsiko commended Hon. Mathious Rwabugumi for his support to young talents and highlighted the significant impact the tournament has had to the people of Rubabo County.
Dr. Augustin stated that since Mwesigwa Mathious fulfilled his duties as a district councilor and is now aspiring to be an MP, there is no reason why the people of Rubabo shouldn’t back him to represent them in Parliament.

The function was graced by different dignitaries including Rukungiri RDC Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, LC5 chairperson Rukungiri Geoffrey Kyomukama, Anna Nuwagaba Tumuramye aspiring Woman MP. Rukungiri district, Musimenta Caledonia also aspiring Woman MP Rukungiri, DPC Rukungiri among many others.
People were delighted at Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious Rwabugumi’s function by well-known musician Joseph Mayanja, also known as Dr. Jose Chameleon, comedians Kachaina and Sam Wenyini from Tayari West, and other MCs and artists, breaking a record in Rubabo County.
Mwesigwa Mathious Rwabugumi, the Rubabo County hopeful Member of Parliament on 4th February 2025 officially launched the highly anticipated boda boda Football Tournament for Rubabo County in Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri district.
The inauguration included the distribution of footballs and uniforms to representatives from 12 parishes in Nyakishenyi Sub County and these include Katonya, Kisya, Rwanyondo, Kahoko, Kacence, Murama, Ngoma, Bikongozo, Kafunjo, Nyarugano, Kibale and Kirimbe.
