111 youths in Rukungiri recruited into Uganda Police Force, DRDC Ongom urges them to embrace discipline.

One hundred and eleven youths from Rukungiri district have officially recruited into the Uganda Police Force (UPF) today 4th May 2025, with a strong emphasis on discipline as crucial for success in their force careers.

The recruitment exercise took place at Makobore High School grounds in Western Division Rukungiri municipality.

Addressing the recruits after their interviews, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Rukungiri Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom stressed the importance of discipline for success during their training course and throughout their Uganda Police Force careers.

In an interview with our reporter, ASP. Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, revealed that out of the 118 candidates shortlisted from Rukungiri district, 111 passed the interviews.

Out of these, 42 are girls and 69 are boys.

Maate urged those who didn’t succeed to try their luck next time since Police recruits regularly.

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) in March this year requested Shs157 billion in the 2025/2026 financial year budget to recruit 10,000 probation police constables (PPCs) in preparation for the 2026 general elections. 

This move aims to maintain law and order during the electoral period.
