Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa breaks silence after helicopter crash

The Deputy Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa, has confirmed that he is safe and that none of his colleagues were wounded when an helicopter crashed last evening. 

The message he wrote on his X handle (formerly Twitter) reads: “Dear all, my colleagues and I are all fine.” Nobody is wounded. 

This followed reports that Deputy Speaker Tayebwa was involved in the helicopter accident last evening.

Tayebwa was coming from an introduction or Kuhingira of the daughter of Dr Silver Mugisha, the NWSC Managing Director,  on Saturday evening when the accident happened. 

The plane is said to have crash-landed.

Everyone on the helicopter was rescued without any injury.

The incident is a stark reminder of the aviation challenges in the country where several helicopters are increasingly getting involved in accidents
