Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng pledges to improve health services in Lango Sub Region

The Lira City Woman MP and Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, pledged that the Lango sub-region will see significant progress and fully operational HC IIIs.

This was recently said by Minister Dr. Aceng during the Lango Regional Health Assembly, which was held at the Margarita Palace Hotel.

The Assembly, which drew in excess of 600 participants, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health as well as development partners.

In response to recent developments at the Lira Region Referral Hospital, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero spearheaded and pushed for the establishment of the ICU ambulance, which is already operational and is currently stationed at the Lira Regional Referral Hospital.

Previously, she had commissioned an ICU ambulance to greatly aid cases of health referrals and emergencies in the Lango sub-region.

Because of this, she stated that there is now sufficient proof that significant, concrete progress is being made.

She also mentioned that the results of the Uganda Demographic and Household Survey (UDHS) 2022, which were just released, show a 50% decrease in the maternal mortality ratio from 336 per 100,000 live births to 189 per 100,000.

Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s director, Dr. Nathan Onyachi, said last week that the Assembly will help them hold themselves accountable for the services they have been delivering to the Lango community.
