Pentecostal pastors in Rukungiri district have been urged to cooperate and develop themselves in order to emulate other faiths.
The call was made early this week by the Rukungiri district chairperson LC5 Geoffrey Kyomukama who was representing the Minister for security Hon Maj. General Jim Muhwezi as guest of honor during the launch of “Rukungiri Evangelical Development Association” (REDA) held at God’s Embassy Church in Bunuura cell, Southern division in Rukungiri municipality.
The creation of such a developmental association, according to Kyomukama, will aid in their development and battle against poverty urging them to collaborate and maintain transparency throughout the operations.
On behalf of Minister Jim Muhwezi, Kyomukama praised Bishop Onesimus Ngoboka for establishing an institute that is skilling Ugandan youths, since this is one strategy to combat unemployment.
In addition to supporting government initiatives to eradicate poverty, Kyomukama urged all pastors to raise awareness among their flocks through church services so that they might combat poverty and improve household income.
Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi contributed Ugx. 10M to help the association (REDA) grow.

According to Tumwebaze Charles, the chairperson of the association, pastors are prepared to alter their ways of life by teaching their children to be skilled in a variety of skills, such as welding, tailoring, and salon work, so they can compete in the marketplace.
