Four vulnerable children from Bwambara Sub County in Rukungiri district who were dropped out of school due to a lack of school fees yesterday Monday received assistance from the Nile Humanitarian Development Agency in collaboration with Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County in Rukungiri district who is also the security Minister.
Following the death of their father early last year, the children’s mother abandoned them and traveled to Kampala in search of employment.
Since they were Muslims, Rukungiri district Kadhi Sheikh Abdul Malik Byaruhanga Kayole visited the children after learning that they were living alone at home without any help.
He found that they were too young and unsupported to attend school, so they truly needed assistance.
Kadhi informed Hon. Jim Muhwezi who stepped in and helped them get an education at Rukungiri Primary School in Rukungiri Municipality since they decided to attend the school of their faith.
The beneficiaries are P.4 pupil Akampurira Kuluthum, Mugisha Abdallah Primary One pupil Nasiima Salim, and P.6 pupil Akamumpa Lukia.
Each of these pupils received scholastic materials to assist them in their education among which include a metallic case, mattress, bed sheets, blankets, school uniform, shoes, books, and sets, and their fees were covered.
Isaac Kaharuza, Hon. Jim Muhwezi’s political assistant, presented these scholastic materials to the pupils during a ceremony that was attended by teachers and pupils at Rukungiri Primary School.
Speaking at the handover, Kaharuza explained that Hon. Jim was worried to hear that these youths were staying at home because they had no school fees, but since he supports education, he had to step in.

Kaharuza continued by advising the beneficiary pupils to value education and put in a lot of effort so they can succeed in the post-study world.

According to Rukungiri district Kadhi Sheikh Abdul Malik Byaruhanga Kayole, the pupils are now able to fit in with their fellows and will study in comfort and without any problems urging them to remember their home background if they want to succeed.

The head teacher of Rukungiri Primary School, Kiconco Silage, commended Minister Jim Muhwezi for helping these vulnerable children who needed help to study.
Kiconco urged the beneficiaries to be disciplined and read hard so that they can receive blessings and succeed in life.
