The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs intends to expand its services to Kigezi Sub Region by opening a branch in Rukungiri Municipality.
This was confirmed during the inspection of land that was offered by the Rukungiri municipality to construct the regional offices of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
Inspecting 1.5 acres of donated land in Western Division offices (formerly Kagunga Sub-County headquarters) was done by Rukungiri Municipality area MP. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, Ministry officials, Rukungiri RDC Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, Mayor, and town clerk, among other leaders.
Speaking during the inspection, Paul Muzale, the Principal Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs who represented Permanent Secretary thanked the Rukungiri district and Municipality officials for providing the office’s land.
Muzale emphasized that the establishment of the regional office will improve service accessibility for the Kigezi and Ankole Sub-regions as a whole.

The Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs for bringing services closer to the public, as this will greatly lessen the need for locals to go to Mbarara for these services.

Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen said during the inspection that document processing and litigation access will be enhanced by the new regional offices in Rukungiri.
RDC Bewayo acknowledged the district’s stability and the NRM government’s assistance for these developments.

According to His Worship Charles Makuru, the new office will bring services closer to the people, which would tremendously aid the growth of Rukungiri Municipality.
Because all of these resources are owned by the government and help the public, Makuru said, there is no reason to impede growth in Rukungiri municipality as current leadership.
