The government has denied a visa extension request by King Ronald Mutebi II of the Buganda tribe in Uganda. This decision was confirmed by Erastus Hailwa, the foreign relations officer in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, yesterday.
King Mutebi II has been receiving treatment at the Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Centre in Outjo since April for an undisclosed condition. Earlier this month, he sought an extension to his stay, which the government declined.
Hailwa clarified that this decision aligns with standard procedures for foreign nationals who have stayed in the country for 90 days within a year, emphasizing that there is no controversy in this matter.
“The Immigration Control Act of 1993, under Section 9, clearly stipulates a maximum stay of 90 days for non-Namibians,” Hailwa stated.
