After over ten days of heavy investigations into the grisly Kampala-Masaka road accident that claimed eight lives early this month, police finally lifted the suspension on Jaguar buses.
According to our sources, Jaguar Bus Company staff on Monday held a meeting with top police officers led by IOV Emmanuel Abele Aleti at Police headquarters in Naguru Kampala.
In the same meeting, police also invited drivers belonging to Volcano and Trinity bus companies who also undergone screening.
Abele disclosed that only buses and drivers that have been verified by the police will be allowed back onto the road.
Speaking during the training and screening, Abele narrated that over speeding by drivers in Uganda is killing the country since it’s the major cause of deadly accidents.
Early this month, the Ministry of Works and Transport suspended the operations of Jaguar buses for 10 days following a tragic crash that claimed eight lives.
The accident occurred on September 1st along the Kampala-Masaka road, with preliminary investigations pointing to reckless driving.
Minister of State for Works and Transport, Fred Byamukama, announced the suspension after a meeting with the company’s management.
