President of Republic of Uganda, H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, initiated the 132kV Kole-Gulu-Nebbi-Arua transmission line into operation, connecting the West Nile region to the national transmission grid.
The West Nile region has regular outages and subpar power supplies in the past due to the supply not being able to meet the demand.
The grid will improve living conditions for the people of the West Nile and allow industries to be confidently developed according to President.
Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development said in order to promote industrialization in the West Nile region and so increase the region’s economic empowerment, the Ugandan government acknowledges this need and is dedicated to providing sufficient and consistent power to it.
