President Museveni warns against planned demonstration next week

The anti-corruption march organizers have been forewarned by President Museveni to abandon their preparations or else expect harsh consequences.

“Some groups, particularly the opposition, are collaborating with foreigners to incite unrest in Uganda through unlawful and careless protests. “They should check themselves or we will have to check them.” Museveni stated.

The president was on Saturday evening addressing the country.

On Tuesday next week, a group of protestors intend to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the corruption in the August House by marching to parliament.

The public is invited to participate in the planned protests, according to their organizers.

The president gave the demo organizers advice to use the Kololo independence grounds and stage their demonstrations there on a non-peak day like Sunday.

He emphasized that in the name of protests, these could not be permitted to trespass on people’s property.
