The Rubabo hopeful area Member of Parliament Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious Rwabugumi has affirmed his commitment to giving boda boda riders financial literacy lectures in an effort to alter their perspective.
Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious made the revelation today Saturday during the ongoing highly anticipated “Rwabugumi Football Tournament” for Rubabo County boda boda riders at Model playground in Nyarushanje Sub County Rukungiri district.
The football tournament attracted four teams from boda boda stages of Kisizi, Nyabushenyi, Ibanda and Ndago boda boda stage.
Addressing the congregation, Hon. Mathious who is also the Secretary for health in Rukungiri district disclosed that although the public used to criticize the work of boda boda, the industry has since helped many people to develop themselves.
Rwabugumi explained that he chose to organize this football tournament in order to enable him bring boda boda riders together in order to fulfill his mission of teaching them financial literacy and mindset change.
He added that “Rwabugumi football tournament” also aims at providing a platform for identifying and uplifting talents among boda boda riders.

Rwabugumi Football tournament commenced on Monday this week and the winning parish will receive 500,000 shillings at the Sub County level, while the winner Sub County at constituency level will receive 2 million shillings, second 1.5 million, and all participating teams will receive 500,000 shillings.
