Members of Boona Bagigahare Nyekundire Group in Rukiga district have expressed their frustration over President Yoweri Museveni’s failure to address their grievances about the fraud by the chairperson Peace Rugambwa who promised to establish a bank.
The group, which is mostly made up of former Boona Bagigahare leaders, petitioned the president last month about their financial losses to Peace Rugambwa’s Boona Bagigahare.
In a press conference held on Friday 14th February 2025 shortly after President Museveni addressed a public rally at Rushebeya in Rwamucucu Sub County Rukiga district, members told our reporter that they were dissatisfied since they had hoped for a direct answer about Peace Rugambwa’s behavior.
On that particular day, the members of the group carried placards bearing the following messages: “Help us, President, Peace Rugambwa Stole from Us,” and “President, We Need Justice” among many others.
Addah Tukesiga, one of Boona Bagigahare Nyekundire Group leaders, expressed dismay that the president had not spoken out on the issue despite their writing to him outlining their complaints.

Other influential leaders, like Medius Niwaha, Merab Tushabomwe, and Rtd. Rev. Robert Musimenta noted that they initially trusted Rugambwa because of President Museveni’s endorsement when he introduced her at Kabale Main Stadium in 2017.
They underlined that even though the president did not specifically address their problem at the Rwamucucu public rally, his remarks urging people to report theft gave them some optimism.

Other leaders including Mable Size, Evas Bishari, and Samuel Aharizira explained how they had lost their farming endeavors and enterprises as a result of making significant investments in the bank’s failure.
They said that Rugambwa’s actions had damaged the president’s reputation in Rukiga District and begged him to exclude her from any upcoming political campaigns or initiatives to eradicate poverty.

Rugambwa refuted the fraud claims when asked to comment on the issue last month.
Peace stated that she was getting ready to restart the Boona Bagigahare program before February 13, 2025, with new projects involving poultry, onions, goats, and bank, but regrettably, nothing is visible on the ground.
