Rukungiri Deputy RDC calls for vigilance ahead of Easter celebrations

The Rukungiri Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom has urged the public to be more vigilant as the district prepares to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that starts on Friday.

Ahimbisibwe made the call today while speaking with our reporter from his office at Rukungiri district headquarters.

DRDC Ongom warned that the holiday comes with the potential for increased criminality, where opportunists and criminal elements target pedestrians, motorists, homes, and passengers among others, to attack, steal and rob from them.

He explained that much as security’s levels of vigilance and alertness have been heightened within the district, people need to remember that safety is everyone’s job and responsibility.

Ongom also cautioned road users against reckless driving to avoid accidents during this Easter.

“On behalf of RDC’s office which heads security in the district, I encourage the public to be vigilant as well and report any suspicious activity to police or any other security agency. By doing so you are helping us take robust action against offenders and bring them to justice,” Ongom said.
