The new Rukungiri district Service Commission which is to handle recruitment of staff for the district local government sworn in today.
At the function held at Rukungiri district Council hall, Magistrate Her Worship Mary Edith Mbabazi presided over the ceremony, authorizing the oath of office for chairperson Can. Twirire Yosia and members, Ninsiima John Chris representing people with disabilities, Ndyabahika Henry, Ms Kemigisha Joyce and Ms. Namara Beatrice as commission members.
The Rukungiri Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom cautioned the commission members against accepting bribes during the recruitment process.
Ongom asked the new commission to recruit qualified and competent staff explaining that if they recruit people who are incompetent, no government program will succeed in the district.

Rukungiri District Chairperson LC5 Mr. Geoffrey Kyomukama applauded the commission for passing their interviews with the Public Service Commission, warning them against corruption, stating that the trust placed in them will reflect on Rukungiri as a whole.

Kyomukama hailed the outgoing commission for serving their four-year term of service.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Hajji. Masokoyi Wasswa echoed the warnings against corruption, stating that the government is actively combating it in the public service and emphasizing that the commission must conduct their work with integrity.
Masokoyi, on the other hand, welcomed the newly appointed members of the district service commission, expressing his optimism that they will surely fulfill their duties for the good of the district.
Hajji. Masokoyi said Ms Kemigisha Joyce and Ms. Namara Beatrice who had served with the outgoing commission, would continue working with the new commission, since their term in office had not yet expired.
