RUKUNGIRI: Minister Jim Muhwezi supports youth in Rwengyiri parish with 40 mattresses, rallies them to embrace gov’t programs

The Minister for security who is also the Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has encouraged youth to seek opportunities, embrace government initiatives aimed at improving household income to overcome poverty.

Hon. Jim Muhwezi made the call yesterday Sunday during the closure of a three-day youth conference in Rwamagaya Catholic Parish, Bugangari Sub County in Rukungiri district.

 Muhwezi, who was the chief guest represented by his political assistant Isaac Kaharuza emphasized the importance of Ugandan youth joining government programs and using available funds to improve their livelihoods.

“The government has put in place various livelihood development initiatives such as Emyooga, parish development models, youth livelihood funds among others all of which aim to empower young people throughout Uganda”.

He highlighted that Uganda’s young population faces numerous challenges, including unemployment, mindset issues, and limited access to financial opportunities, which continue to keep many youths below the poverty line urging them now to embrace government wealth creation initiatives to fight unemployment.

The youth of Rwamagaya also organized a fundraising event at the closure of the conference with the goal of purchasing mattresses to aid them in such gatherings and hire them out to make money where Minister Jim Muhwezi donated 40 mattresses valued at 2 million shillings for this purpose.

On the same function, Minister Jim Muhwezi’s Bugangari Sub County coordinator, Ahimbisibwe Dan Bahamire urged Christians to support such leaders as the country approaches election season, citing the significant contributions their legislator has made to Bugangari’s development in the areas of health, education, and other areas.

The youth chaplain for Rwengyiri Parish, Rev. Fr. Clement Musabimana encouraged the young people to put the lessons they learned from the conference into practice, especially loving God and participating in church activities, since this will help them succeed in life.

Fr. Clement praised Minister Jim Muhwezi for supporting youth in Rwengyiri Parish, pledging their hand when time for elections comes.

According to Nimusiima Rachael, the youth chairperson for Rwengyiri Parish, the conference included lectures for young people on self-discipline, listening to parents, and other life-improving topics.
