Ankunda Andrew Kikira has called on people of Rukungiri Municipality to prioritize generating homestead income, emphasizing that other developments such as tarmac roads and electricity will follow.
Ankunda who eyes for Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary seat made the call on 10th April 2025 during the Pastoral visit of the new Archdeacon Rujumbura Archdeaconry Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa to Kahororo Church of Uganda in Western division in Rukungiri Municipality.
Addressing Christians, Ankunda Andrew assured the people of Rukungiri Municipality that poverty eradication is achievable through embracing government programs designed to improve livelihoods.
Ankunda Kikira highlighted the Parish Development Model (PDM) as a key initiative to empower communities, explaining that the funds provided at the Parish level serve as capital to uplift households economically.
Ankunda called on residents of Rukungiri Municipality to focus on value addition, particularly in the agricultural sector, to ensure their products do not end up being sold at a loss and this is one of his agenda.
“Now that the government has invested heavily into the Parish Development Model, it’s essential that you encourage more people to engage in value addition, ensuring your products are not sold at a loss,” Ankunda said.
He however, urged people of Rukungiri municipality to support him when the time for elections comes, as these are some of key issues he wants to handle during his term of office.

In his sermon, Ven. Kakanyisa Archdeacon of Rujumbura Archdeaconry encouraged Christians to make use of Jesus Christ as the only weapon and catalyst that can enable them to succeed in their lives.
