Residents of Nyakisoroza cell, in Kakyenkye Parish Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri district have embarked on an initiative to maintain community roads with support from Rubabo county hopeful Member of Parliament Hon. Busingye Doreen Muheru.
About 100 residents turned up today Wednesday with hoes, rakes, and pangas to clear the 3km road stretching from Omukagaana, Nyakisoroza to Kamaga which had become bushy due to years of neglect by leaders.
Speaking with our reporter during the exercise, Tumwine Beatrice, Muhwezi Martin, Pabias Kinyarwanda, Kyomuhendo Tereza and Katushabe Mauline some of the residents say that they resolved to intervene after being advised by Busingye Doreen to engage in communal work of their roads as they wait for government.
This follows heavy rains that destroyed most of the roads, making them impossible for people, motorcycles and vehicles to move.
The residents added that many people have got accidents because of the many gullies that have filled the road since it was neglected by leaders.
However, since they didn’t receive any benefits from the current leaders, they praised Busingye for the support and pledged to back her in the upcoming elections for improved services.

Mr. John Patrick Byaruhanga, the area chairperson LC1, praised the people for their solidarity and cooperation in repairing their road, despite the fact that leaders have ignored them.
Byaruhanga praised Doreen for her intervention, stating that their access to hospitals, schools, and market centers has improved as a result of the road’s construction.

The coordinator of Doreen Busingye in Bukyenkye Parish, Nyakishenyi Sub County, Tumushabe Christine, stated that she took action after observing that residents were having trouble accessing service centers due to inadequate road networking, particularly as a result of intense rains.

Hon. Doreen Busingye Muheru the Rubabo County hopeful MP has supported communal works in different Sub Counties of Buyanja, Kebisoni, Nyarushanje and Nyakishenyi to rehabilitate communal roads and bridges.
She has been described by the public as a good mobiliser for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) especially in Rubabo County since it has been in the hands of opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
On multiple occasions, Busingye has rallied locals to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s NRM government for its commendable initiatives to lift people out of poverty.
