RUKUNGIRI: Omurusheshe P/S rewards top 2024 PLE performers

Muzoora Bruce the inspector of schools in Buhunga Sub County Rukungiri district has advised parents to enroll their children in schools they can afford.

Muzoora said the government established schools both primary and secondary which are well-equipped and staffed with teachers to provide quality and affordable education.

However, Muzoora clarified that some parents continue to send their children to expensive schools beyond their means, leading to student dropouts.

He made the remarks yesterday Friday during the function to award 2024 PLE best performers of Omurusheshe Primary School in Buhunga Sub County Rukungiri district which is government aided.

Out of 72 candidates who sat for their 2024 PLE exams, 8 passed in grade one, 41 in grade two, 21 grade three whereas 2 candidates passed in fourth grade.

Each of the eight division one candidates received a mattress to aid in their transition to secondary level.

Speaking as the chief guest, Muzoora explained that parents should send their children to schools they can afford in order to prevent future dropouts, which has an impact on families and students alike.

Musinguzi Emmanuel Kirakurate, the head teacher of Omurusheshe Primary School revealed that praising the highest PLE performers is a tradition that inspires other students to work just as hard when their time comes.

Musinguzi expressed gratitude to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders for their hard work in achieving high academic achievement.

Representing the foundation body during the function, Rev. Joseph Tugume, Parish Priest Omurusheshe Church of Uganda urged pupils to abstain from demonic behaviors, such as watching football, if they want to be significant individuals in future.

Since the candidates who received mattresses are entering secondary school, Rev. Tugume urged them to make use of them to study well.

Amanya Banabas and Tumukunde Paul, some of the best 2024 PLE performers shared their experience with other pupils, advising them to focus on reading extensively, conduct research, and speak with teachers in order to perform well academically at the end.
