The Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament who is also the security Minister Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has called upon Ugandans to leverage the country’s wealth-building programs, such as the Emyooga and Parish Development Model (PDM), to tackle poverty and elevate their financial status.
Hon. Jim Muhwezi made the call yesterday Sunday during Rwamagaya Parish Fundraising Drive to purchase a land cruiser double Cabin to aid the Pastoral work of the Parish, a function held at Church premises in Ruhinda Sub County Rukungiri district.
The fundraising was organized by Mugarura Banada Kaharata the popular businessman in Rukungiri and the biological father of Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata.
Addressing the congregation as the guest of honor, Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi pledged his total support to the people of Rujumbura and Rukungiri at large hence urging them to embrace government programs like Parish Development Model, Emyooga among others.

Minister Jim Muhwezi delivered a keynote speech, praising Rwamagaya Catholic parish’s initiatives and encouraging the community to come together in support of the fundraising event.
He contributed 20M shillings to support the cause.

Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata the Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament stated that it was worthwhile for the people of Ruhinda Sub County to raise funds and purchase a parish car because it has been difficult for God’s ministers to get to remote locations where Christians can receive services.

Hon. Natukunda praised individuals of all faiths for their collaboration at the event and encouraged them to adopt the same mindset in their own homes so they can work hard and increase household income, which will enable them to assist their churches.

Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa, the parish priest Christ the King parish in Rukungiri, and Dean Nyakibale deanery, led the mass and emphasized the importance of the Christian fasting period.
In his sermon, Fr. Turyatoranwa encouraged the congregation to reflect on their spiritual journey and to support the parish’s fundraising efforts.
Rev. Fr. Julius also called on Christians to wholeheartedly embrace prayer, fasting alms-giving as essential pillars of spiritual renewal throughout the Lenten season.

Natuhwera Vanansio Bagateireyo, the chairperson Rwamagaya Catholic Parish council stated that the parish will continue to commemorate this day annually and raise money for its development.

Bagateireyo went on to say that this year’s fundraising goal is to buy a double cabin, which will enable the parish to carry out pastoral work in rural places that are difficult to access, particularly within the parish.
