RUKUNGIRI: Security Minister Hon. Jim Muhwezi supports construction of classroom block at Ruhinda’s Rwera P/S

Parents of school-going children in Rukungiri district have been urged to embrace government-aided schools as a way of ensuring that their children continue learning uninterrupted.

The call was made yesterday Saturday by the deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Rukungiri district, Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom while representing the Security minister and the Rujumbura County MP. Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi who was the chief guest during the fundraising towards the construction of three classroom block and library at Rwera Primary school.

The school is located in Nyabikumbwa cell, Nyarwimuka Parish in Ruhinda Sub County Rukungiri district.

Addressing the gathering, Ongom says parents should not burden themselves with taking children to expensive schools, which they cannot afford but rather develop their local ones to benefit their children at lower costs.

According to Ongom, some parents keep their children home as they look for money to pay school fees in expensive schools that charge exorbitant fees and requirements yet they can use little they have to develop their local schools for the good education of their children.

Ongom went on to advise residents of Rujumbura Constituency to support Hon. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, the incumbent area legislator, won the 2026 general elections for the continuity of development since his achievements speak for themselves.

Hon. Jim Muhwezi contributed 50 bags of cement and 50 iron sheets towards the construction of three classrooms and library at Rwera Primary School.

With an enrollment of 300 pupils, Nabasa Julius Kezironi the head teacher said that the school structures have been in dilapidated state forcing them to organize a fundraising in a bid to construct new classrooms to facilitate the big number of pupils.

Over Ugx. 8M, 99 bags of cement and 50 iron sheets were collected during the function.
