Three juveniles have perished in a drowning accident that the territorial police in Kyankwanzi have reported.
The incident took place on 28th August 2024 at unknown time in Biroboka Cell, Kyankwanzi Town Council in Kyankwanzi District.
The deceased have been named as Mugwanya Alex, a male juvenile of 06 years old, Namuli Oliva, a female juvenile of 03 years old, and Bambozo Sylvia, a female juvenile of 08 years old.
Ssekiziyivu Patrick, a resident of Biroboka cell in Kyankwanzi district, is the father of all of these juveniles.
About three years ago, Ssekiziyivu Patrick is said to have temporarily moved his family from their home in Buswabwera Village, Byerima Sub County, Kyankwanzi District, to Biroboka Cell in the same District so that he could work as a gardener at Petero Tumushabe’s farm.
On 24th August 2024, Nambozo Noor, the mother to the three deceased children left their home in Byerima village for some domestic chores, leaving the husband with the three children.
On August 28, 2024, the father of the dead left the children alone while he went to meet a friend in the Lubiri Trading Center in Kyankwanzi District.
Preliminary findings indicate that the father, while still at Lubiri trading centre, got information that his children had drowned to death in a dam found at the farm of Petero Tumushabe, located at Biroboka Cell.
Wamala Region Police Spokesperson Racheal noted that the Police team responded to the scene of crime, examined and documented.
She however urged Parents and guardians to be vigilant, cautious and desist from leaving their children unattended by an adult even for a short time.
