Kyabugashe High School has won two football trophies (boys and girls) during 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) in Rukungiri district.
The boys’ football finals witnessed Kyabugashe High School beating St. Jerome SS Ndama 1-0 at Rukungiri main stadium today Saturday 29th March 2025.
For girls, Kyabugashe SS also won the trophy after beating St. Jerome SS with 2-0 goals.
While officiating finals, Rukungiri district chairperson Lc5 Mr. Geoffrey Kyomukama said students who engage in sports discover their talents, while developing values and competences that will prepare them for the rapidly changing world.
Kyomukama said that some students have already benefited from sports where they acquired bursaries and are studying on free of charge from different schools.
He however confirmed that the district has already received funds to refurbish Rukungiri main stadium lobbied by security Minister Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi.

Ahimbisibwe Dan Bahamire the chairperson for Rukungiri district secondary school sports committee said that this year’s football tournament was of its kind where all secondary schools participated hailing school directors and head teachers for the team work.

Tumusiime Banada and Natukunda Queen Elizabeth team captains for Kyabugashe High School told our reporter that their success was a result of hard work and passion for sports promising to do the same as they head to regional level.
