St. Mark Secondary School Nyakibale has once again cemented its position as one of the Rukungiri’s top performing institutions in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2024 examinations.
All 59 candidates who sat for the examinations excelled in Result One, most of them with A and B the highest possible grading under the new curriculum.
Speaking at the school’s celebratory event, Fortunate Akanyihayo Rukundo ST. Mark Secondary School head teacher expressed immense pride and gratitude for the students’ performance.
Akanyihayo attributes this remarkable performance to several key factors among which include quality teachers and conducive school environment.
“We have invested heavily in training our teachers on the requirements of the new curriculum. If a teacher is competent, he or she produces competent students.” She stated.

According to director Mr. Raymond Rukundo, under the new competency-based curriculum, students receive letter grades instead of divisions.
Rukundo said the results have been an exceptionally good start for the new curriculum.
He said that Result Two, Three and four have zero students, which means they have excelled completely.

Located in Nyamayenje, Southern Division in Rukungiri Municipality, St. Mark Secondary School Nyakibale is not a stroke of luck but rather the result of a well-planned and executed academic strategy.
Uganda’s breakdown of the new grading system 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
A: 80-100% (Pass with Distinction), B: 70-79% (Pass with Credit), C: 60-69% (Pass with Credit), D: 50-59% (Pass) and E: 0-49% (Pass, but with a lower competency level)
Result 1 in the transcript means qualify for certificate, at least one D in the gradable subjects, Result 2 in the transcript means doesn’t qualify for the award of certificate for some reason and Result 3 means those who did not meet minimum level in all subjects for example those with only E in all subjects whereas Result 4 means those who missed exams.
