It was a moment of Joy and excitement at Rukungiri district headquarters as “Boona Bagigahare Nyekundire Group” chairperson, Madam Peace Rugambwa, and the Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County who is also the Minister for Security Hon. Jim Muhwezi, decided to resolve their differences and discuss district development.
This occurred during the reconciliation meeting that was attended by Boona Bagigahare leaders, Chairperson Lc3s, district leaders, district NRM leaders, Rukungiri municipality area MP, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa and the Presidential Advisor, Mzee Francis Batinti.
The meeting comes after the two and their supporters met with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni early this year, who requested that they collaborate for the advancement of their district.
In the course of that discussion, the President made a commitment to reimburse the Boona Bagigahare beneficiaries for their membership fees of Ugx. 12,000, asserting that NRM never requests payment for government programs.
In his remarks during the reconciliation meeting, Hon. Jim Muhwezi asked Rugambwa to always collaborate and notify district leaders in the event that he has any programs for people.

Madam Peace Rugambwa expressed her willingness to work with district leaders to end poverty at the village level and asked for pardon if she made a mistake.
Rugambwa, however, emphasized that while she will collaborate with district officials, her goal is to directly aid the underprivileged who require government support rather than bringing wealth materials to the district.

Mr. Francis Batinti, the Presidential Advisor, thanked everyone for the reconciliation and emphasized the need of openness, discipline, and cooperation for the development of Rukungiri District.
After reconciliation, Honorable Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, called for purity.
The Chairperson of LC5, Geoffrey Kyomukama, conveyed appreciation and reaffirmed his dedication to providing services.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided to form a committee consisting of several district leaders and Boona Bagigahare leaders to examine the names of those who had paid Ugx. 12,000 so they could receive their money back.
They also decided that, even if their membership fees has to be reimbursed, they would still ask the President to help the people of Boona Bagigahare, who were promised mattresses among other things, to grow as individuals.
Boona Bageigahare Nyekundire Group, founded by Peace Rugambwa in 2015, aimed to support disadvantaged communities with onion seeds, digging materials, mattresses, and other essentials across five south-western districts.
These include Rukungiri, Ntungamo, Kabale, Kisoro, and Rukiga.
