There was joy and excitement in the air as Kigezi Agricultural College Rukungiri sat its first exams following its authorization as a fully registered institution by the Ministry of Education and Sports through the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB).
The Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board’s July/August 2024 examination series officially began nationally today.
The director of Kigezi Agricultural College, Elder Emmanuel Kikoni, expressed to our reporter his anticipation that his students will take the UBTEB exams there for the first time.
According to Elder Kikoni, since the school did not yet have a license, past students took their exams at other locations. However, since the institution received accreditation this year from the Ministry of Education and Sports, students will henceforth always take their exams there.
He added that while people might learn practical skills that may assist them produce revenue after their studies through their college, it is no longer a concern for them to complain that they have no jobs.

According to Kikoni, Kigezi Agricultural College graduates who have completed their studies are content in their current communities because they have gained sufficient information to be employed.

In an interview with our reporter, Dr. Dismas Aijuka, a veterinary assistant and instructor at Kigezi Agricultural College, stated that among other things, they conduct trainings in poultry, cattle, and piggery so that students can become knowledgeable and valuable members of their communities.
According to Dr. Aijuka, students are being prepared for a career in agriculture since there is a shortage of food in the globe. As a result, when they work in the fields, they can teach others how to grow enough food for themselves and their families as well as the entire world.

Mrs. Katwesigye Esther, another instructor at the college who specializes in cropping in agriculture, stated that they teach students a range of management techniques, encouraging parents to bring their children so they may learn practical skills.

According to the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) Executive Secretary Onesimus Oyesigye, this year’s examinations are being conducted at 454 centres nationwide, with a total of 58,995 registered candidates.
Among these, 18,742 are female, and 40,253 are male.
In a move to enhance inclusive education, UBTEB has registered 76 candidates with special needs for this examination period.
Kigezi Agricultural College was founded two years ago and all of its graduates have passed the UBTEB exam with flying colors, a testament to the quality of its instructors and its strict admissions policy.
