Ankunda Andrew Kikira, the Rukungiri Municipality hopeful Member of Parliament has urged the public to vote for leaders rather than rulers, in the upcoming elections if they are to get better services.
Ankunda made this call on Easter Sunday while handing over a keyboard and microphones to Christians of St. Francis Nyabihinga Catholic Church, under Nyakibale Catholic Parish in Eastern Division, Rukungiri District which he pledged almost two weeks ago.
Addressing Christians during the handover ceremony, Ankunda explained that true leaders represent the ideas of the people and work for their well-being, while rulers often forget their mission and instead focus on individual interests.
Ankunda urged voters to consider candidates’ past actions, future plans, and intended methods of representing the people when making their voting decisions.

He also emphasized his commitment to supporting government efforts to lift people especially women and youth out of poverty.
The hopeful MP also encouraged the public to start small income-generating projects like candle-making, bar and liquid soap production, and to form associations.
Ankunda invited residents to submit their proposals to his newly established office in Rukungiri town, where he promised to support them with raw materials to help them produce their products such as jerry, soaps, and more.

Nyabihinga Catholic Church choir chairperson Fausta Kikanshemeza during the ceremony thanked Ankunda Kikira for fulfilling his promises unlike many politicians who make promises and never return. She noted that the keyboard donation would boost their morale in praising the living God.
