FDC’s Dr. Kizza Besigye undergoes surgery in United States

Opposition kingpin Col Dr Kizza Besigye underwent successful surgery in the United States this week.

The former four-time presidential candidate traveled to United States last week for surgery on his hand.

This was revealed by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who is currently the President of Besigye’s FDC Katonga Road faction.

“Quite heartening news of a successful operation of Kizza Besigye right hand,” Lukwago announced last night.

The Lord Mayor further stated that Besigye’s hand was “reeling with pernicious complications out of a rubber bullet wound sustained in the aftermath of the 2011 elections.”

Besigye was struck by rubber bullet on Thursday April 14th 2011 during a protest march in Kampala.

He was taking part in a “walk to work” protest against rising food and fuel prices when police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators.

Describing the moment, Besigye “had a sharp pain and so this ring finger started bleeding.”

Meanwhile, during his trip in US, Besigye caught up with his family before the surgery.
