Minister Jane Ruth Aceng urges Lango Sub Region farmers to embrace coffee farming

Lira City Woman Member of Parliament, who also serves as Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has urged farmers in Lango Sub -region to embrace coffee farming in order to harness household income.

She said coffee is one of the leading export products in the country that registers high returns on investment.

Minister Aceng made the revelation while speaking with our reporter in an exclusive telephone interview. 

Dr Aceng who has taken a new trend in mobilizing women and youths in Lira City and Lango to embrace coffee farming has promised to lead by example and that she will set her own demonstration Coffee farm for all others to learn from.

She appealed to the people of Lango to adopt the new farming methods of four acre model being encouraged by the president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni 

 “To you my people of Lira City and Lango, please take the message of the president seriously, let us embrace coffee growing, just look at how other people from the Central, Eastern and Southern Uganda are earning big money from coffee?, imagine a kilogram of coffee now goes for 12,000 Shillings, even if it was to be sold at 5,000 shillings, our people would have made money. 

Dr Aceng Ocero who supported farmer groups in Lira City West and Lira City East with Tractors and other farming equipment thanked the people of Lira City for being hard working and encouraged them to take advantage of government programs such as PDM, EMYOOGA, YLP , GROW among others. 

She also commended the government of Uganda for the current prevailing peace in the region since peace comes along with development.

Aceng asked people of Lango to vote for NRM in the upcoming election for further advancement since the NRM government has registered a lot of achievements in the region compared to other previous governments like UPC among others.
