The Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament who is also the Minister for Security Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi has asked people to avoid the politics of sectarianism and instead promote the politics of development based on human needs.
Minister Jim Muhwezi made the call today Wednesday during the official launch of Rukungiri NRM Mobilizers Association held at Rukungiri Inn Hotel in Eastern Division Rukungiri Municipality.
The launch was attended by Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata and other aspiring Members of Parliament including Rubabo’s Mathious Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, Mujuni Lawrence Mpitsi, Alex Bob Rugonde, Doreen Busingye Muheru, Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, former Rukungiri district chairperson LC5 Andrewson Katebire among others.
Others included Geoffrey Kyomukama the Rukungiri district boss and Rukungiri Municipality aspiring Mayor Boaz Kamusiime Matita.
While addressing the congregation, Hon. Jim Muhwezi castigated leaders who would emphasize politics of identity based on tribe or ethnicity, religion and gender saying that they are enemies of development and the country at large asking the public to shun these candidates.
Muhwezi said that leaders should preach unity and development other than dwelling on someone’s religion or tribe.
Minister Jim Muhwezi clarified that past governments collapsed because of this mentality of sectarian politics.
However, Muhwezi urged the Rukungiri NRM mobilizers Association members to form a savings and credit SACCO so that they can develop themselves.
He contributed 20M shillings towards the development of the association.

Batinti said that this will lessen the burden of people requesting one-on-one meetings with the president, still allowing him to address their development-related concerns.
