In response to the National Unity Platform’s request to hold their upcoming four-year anniversary celebrations at Kololo Ceremonial grounds on July 22, 2024, the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs has indicated that the grounds are undergoing infrastructural improvement.
The ministry’s permanent secretary, Kallu Sam, wrote a letter stating that Kololo is unavailable for the NUP’s event.
But after reading the letter, Party President Robert Kyagulanyi expressed disappointment that their request had been denied, pointing out that many people and groups were still using the location for concerts and other events.
”We just received this letter from Mfitumukiza Kallu Sam, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, informing us that the National Unity Platform cannot use Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, because apparently, there are ongoing infrastructural developments! These same grounds have been hosting different events, including recently when they had an event to apparently recognize 40 years of NRM- in actual sense 40 years of plunder and misrule”. Wrote Kyagulanyi on his official Xhandle @bobiwine.
The party Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya earlier this month wrote to the ministy requesting to use the grounds.
