Following a traffic collision on Friday in Nyakibale, Kanyinya cell along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road in Rukungiri District, one person has been confirmed dead and another injured.
According to available information, the deceased was a farmer named Furugense Byamukama, 62, who is the resident of Kanyabizo cell of Ntungwa Parish, Nyamirama Sub County, Kanungu District.
The injured victim is Dukuviki Byamukama, 50, a businessman from Kibirizi Kanyinya cell, Ndorero in Rukungiri District.
Muminu Bukenya, a Rukungiri resident who is currently on the run, was driving a white Toyota Hiace (registration number UAZ 851S) when it collided with Byamukama, a patient at Nyakibale Hospital in the Rukungiri District, who was riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UEX 152F).
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi region police, stated that the accident was caused by a collision between a motor vehicle and a motorcycle.
According to Maate, the victim was brought to Nyakibale Hospital in serious condition after the scene was visited and recorded, and the deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary in Nyakibale for a postmortem.
In anticipation of an examination, the car and motorcycle have been seized at the Rukungiri Central Police Station.
Maate blamed the motorcyclist’s careless riding for the mishap.
