Residents of Kafunjo in Nyakina Ward Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri district yesterday Wednesday came together for a community effort aimed at repairing deteriorated road in their area.
The road connects areas of Kasheshe, Bugyera, Kitoojo, Nyabiteete and Nyakabungo all in Buyanja Sub County Rukungiri district.
Residents say their road has been rendered unusable since the start of this year’s rainy season, severely disrupting their daily routines.
The subsequent flooding impeded access to essential amenities such as markets, schools, and agricultural fields.
In response to the urgent demand, Hon. Doreen Busingye Mubangizi, who eyes for Rubabo County parliamentary seat, was able to obtain murram, needed to fix the community access road that was in poor condition.

Hon. Doreen donated marram to be used and organized community work so that people could access their gardens, schools, health centers, and businesses, among other places.
The marram has been positioned thoughtfully along the road to promote more efficient traffic flow for both people and their goods.
Speaking with our reporter while working on the community, Ngabirano Oscar, Amos Rwaheru, and Aheirwe Alex Mugisha Rwamugata, some of the residents, said that they decided to contact Hon. Doreen for assistance because the government had not been working on the road and bridge.
They praised Hon. Doreen for her outstanding work, citing their access to the market, health facilities, and educational institutions as just a few benefits.

Hon. Albert Mugisha Rwamugata the Buyanja Sub County district councilor acknowledged the difficulties and revealed that the bad condition of the road has impacted the transportation of farmers’ produce to the markets since it is impassable.
He continued by saying that they are now relieved and may proceed to market centers without any problems because Hon. Busingye Doreen backed them.
