Rubabo hopeful MP. Hon. Mathious Rwabugumi raises concern over delay hearing of cases at Nyarushanje Grade one Magistrate Court

Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious Rwabugumi the Secretary for Health in Rukungiri district and the Rubabo County hopeful Member of Parliament has raised a concern over delay hearing of cases at Nyarushanje Grade one Magistrate Court due to lack of stationed Criminal Investigations Officer (CID) at Nyarushanje Police Station.

Hon. Rwabugumi brought up the issue early this week when Rukungiri district authorities, its civil servants, and other stakeholders met with Judicial Service Commission representatives.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the reasons behind judicial corruption, its effects, and strategies for combating it.

Speaking during the conference, Rwabugumi said that Nyarushanje Grade One Magistrate Court was established by the Ugandan government to handle offenses from that area because of the long distance between Rubabo and Rukungiri district headquarters.

Rwabugumi explained, however, that they are having trouble with court hearings being delayed because police take case files to Rukungiri Central Police Station for CID confirmation before bringing them to court.

According to him, some complainants lose interest in their claims because of the costs associated with managing their files, which results in some cases not being handled properly and files not being brought to court.

Rwabugumi made a request to the appropriate authorities to turn Nyarushanje Police Station into a division so that it may handle all of its cases without contacting officers from Rukungiri central police station.

In response to the matter, Rukungiri district Police Commander (DPC) SSP. Kyangungu Apollo confirmed that President Museveni directed IGP to deploy 13 Police officers at every Sub County across the Country.

Kyangungu added that the President said all the deployed police officers must be with motorcycles so that they can curb crime in their respective areas of operations.

However, Kyangungu said that this will assist the public by resolving every issue mentioned by the district councilor for Nyarushanje Sub County.
