RUKUNGIRI: Rubabo’s Doreen Busingye partners with residents of Mabanga to construct temporary bridge

Residents of Kinyibumba and Kamurindwa cells in Mabanga Parish, Kebisoni Sub County in Rukungiri district have built a temporary bridge to ease movement of people and transportation of goods.

Residents who spent a whole day working on a community bridge early this week appreciated the efforts of Hon. Doreen Busingye Muheru who is eyeing for Rubabo Parliamentary seat whereby she provided materials used to construct a temporary bridge saying that hope has been restored and now services can be accessed at the time they want.

Speaking with our reporter, Josephat Byakatonda the chairperson Lc2 Mabanga Parish revealed that they could not access their gardens and distribute their goods to market centers before creation of a temporary bridge since the old one broke down a long time ago.

Through community service, Hon. Doreen Busingye chose to provide them with construction materials so that locals could use the bridge to access schools, health centres, businesses and gardens, according to Byakatonda.

Now, Byakatonda, who is a coffee and banana plantation farmer, wants the government to step in and build a permanent bridge and access road so that cars and motorcycles transporting agricultural products may reach markets.

Margret Komuhangi and Kyarimpa Yowanina some of the residents disclosed that they could not wait for government intervention yet their bridge is the only connecting point for the communities in the two villages.

Now that a temporary bridge has been constructed, they can reach every village, thanking Hon. Doreen for saving them.

Other locals, including John Bataringaya and Banada Babizamu Rujeru, requested that the government save them by erecting a permanent bridge, since Hon. Busingye temporarily supported them.
