RUKUNGIRI: Bugangari Health IV gets first ultra scan machine, incubator to save premature babies

Bugangari Health Centre IV in Rukungiri district yesterday Sunday received a brand new ultrasound scan, incubator, delivery bed among other medical equipment to help the facility in health service delivery.

These were from the Ministry of health under the government of Uganda. 

The equipments were handed over to Bugangari Health Center IV and the Sub County leadership by the Minister for Security who is also the area Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.

Speaking while handing over the equipments, Hon. Jim Muhwezi urged the staff to use the equipment in a proper way such that people benefit from them.

Muhwezi stated that NRM government should be commended for bringing services closer to the people, and that these medical equipents will lower the rates of maternal and newborn mortality.

Dr. Rukundo Willy, an in charge of the health center said that the machine has come at the right time and will end the suffering of the pregnant mothers and other people who need scan services.

Dr. Willy also commended the government of Uganda for the continuous support rendered to the health center.

He said that the equipment will reduce the deaths that occur among expectant mothers.

Deputy Resident District Commissioner Rukungiri, Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, commended Minister Jim Muhwezi for advocating for medical equipment, encouraging people to back leaders who will address their issues and provide services in 2026 general elections.

Byamukama Juston the chairperson LC3 Bugangari Sub County said that his area has benefited thus far from the victory of Minister Jim Muhwezi since elected as the area MP in general elections of 2021, pledging their support for the continuation of development.

Some of the area residents noted that expectant mothers have been struggling with the charges for ultrasound scanner services which have been affecting service delivery in the area since they would be required to go for a scan in the private clinics where they are charged 20, 000 shillings which is a burden to them.
