Residents from Sub Counties of Buhunga, Nyakagyeme, Buyanja, Nyakishenyi and Rukungiri municipality whose crops were destroyed by hailstorms have a reason to smile after the government through the office of the prime minister delivered relief food to them.
Relief food was distributed yesterday Wednesday 27th November 2024 by the Rukungiri district authorities to the affected victims.
Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Rukungiri told press that the district received 20,000kgs of maize flour and 10,000kgs of beans to be distributed to the affected household.
Ongom said that the donation is an indicator that the government is aware of the catastrophe urging affected people to replant crops and avoid famine in the near future.
He went on to urge the beneficiaries not to sell the donated relief food but rather use it for the intended purpose.

Some of the beneficially residents including Allen Musimenta, Francis sharp and Tashongye Rashid all from Masya and Rushasha Parishes respectively in Nyakagyeme Sub County praised the government of Uganda under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for coming up to their rescue since they had nothing to eat since they were affected by the hailstorms.
