Residents of Kanyantutu and Njororo villages in Sub Counties of Ruhinda and Bugangari Rukungiri district with support from Rujumbura County area member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi built a bridge to ease movement of people and transportation of goods.
The bridge connects the parishes of Nyabitete in Bugangari Sub County and Kigarigari in Ruhinda Sub County all in Rukungiri district.
Musimenta Primah, the chairperson LC1Kigarigari cell, told our reporter during today’s community work, which was also attended by Hon. Jim Muhwezi’s political assistant Mr. Isaac Kaharuza, said that they suffer especially when the bridge floods during rainy season, particularly when it comes to accessing social services like churches, schools, and hospitals.
On behalf of residents, Musimenta expressed gratitude to their legislator, Hon. Jim Muhwezi, who contributed shillings one million on the construction of the bridge and necessary metallic angle lines.
Musimenta added that hope has been restored and now services will be accessed at the time they want.

According to Ngabirano Gashorm, the head of a committee that organized resources, residents found it difficult to travel between two Sub Counties, which compelled them to pool their resources in order to find a solution.
Ngabirano thanked Minister Jim Muhwezi for his 500,000 shilling donation at the start of the plan and the one million shillings provided by his political assistant today as this will assist them during the construction process.

Isaac Kaharuza who represented Hon. Jim Muhwezi said that the legislator has been working on various roads and bridges that are in poor condition, citing Rwengiri-Katokye road as an example.
Kaharuza added that he even brought a grader from the ministry of agriculture that will work on all roads that are in poor condition.
Kaharuza encouraged people to participate in community services in order to prolong the lifespan of roads and bridges in communities.

According to Karyamarwaki Benson, councilor representing Ruhinda Sub County in the district, the issue of Njororo Bridge was brought to the notice of the authorities, but it has remained unresolved because of lack of funding.
In order to facilitate the movement of their goods and services, Karyamarwaki hailed the locals for their brilliant idea to construct a bridge as they await the government to intervene.
