Graduates have been urged to use the knowledge and skills gained during their studies to address real-world challenges and contribute to community development.
The call was made yesterday December 18th, 2024, by the Rukungiri Municipality area Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa who was the chief guest during the eighteenth graduation ceremony of Makerere Business and Computer Studies in Bugyera Cell, Western Division in Rukungiri Municipality.
Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Rutahigwa reminded the graduates that society expects them to use their education to drive development and address community issues.
Rutahigwa emphasized that the main purpose of education is to help solve the challenges facing society.

“The best way to prove what you have learned is through your actions and work. Go out and be good ambassadors of the education you received,” Rutahigwa said.
He went on to advise graduates to exhibit integrity since they are now out of the institution.

The legislator asked parents to embrace their responsibility of caring for the basic needs of their children, especially education in order for them to have a better future.
“It said some parents hide behind poverty to shirk their responsibilities of providing the basic needs of their children, which was a major cause of teenage pregnancy”.
Meanwhile, in his capacity as the area legislator, Rutahigwa explained that he is going above and beyond to ensure that Rukungiri municipality receives improved services, urging the populace to avoid being duped by those who come with personal agendas.

Rev. Ronald Natuhwera the Director of Makerere College of Business and Computer Studies during the graduation ceremony urged the graduates not to see graduation as the end of their education but instead, he described it as the beginning of their professional journey.
“This graduation is a joyful moment, but it’s just the first step toward achieving your dreams”. Rev. Natuhwera said.
REV. Natuhwera advised graduates to embrace discipline and integrity if they are to become better professionals.

Meanwhile, Rev. Edson Ampire, the North Kigezi Diocesan Missions coordinator who was the guest preacher encouraged graduates to follow a Christian lifestyle and to let God guide them.
Rev. Ampire went on to say that in order for the graduates to succeed, they should adhere to the rules at work.
