Bishop Onesimus Ngoboka Byengoma the overseer of National Fellowship of Born-again Pentecostal Churches in Kigezi Sub Region has cautioned Church leaders against causing divisions in the Church, saying they are contradicting Christian principles.
Bishop Ngoboka made the remarks today Tuesday 24th December 2024 while delivering his Christmas message to Christians.
He said that during the festivities, religious leaders should preach peace and avoid statements that antagonize the masses during church services.
“Any religion which tries to promote divisions within the congregation should be avoided. Such religion or church is political and not Christian,” Bishop Ngoboka said.
Additionally, he cautioned religious leaders against direct involvement in politics, warning that it could divide their followers.
“As religious leaders, we have a responsibility to lead, counsel, and heal the flock. When we become involved in the day’s political disputes, when we are used as tools or symbols for one party or another, we risk diluting our spiritual purpose,” He added
The bishop also advised Ugandans to reject any messages or teachings that promote prejudice or discord, especially as elections approach.
