FDC Katonga resolve to break away from Amuriat’s FDC

The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga based faction has resolved to break away from the original FDC party to enable the formation of the new political party.

This is contained in the report that was processed after a countrywide consultation on the future of the party following disagreements within the FDC that led to the formation of Katonga based faction.

While presenting the report to the delegates at Katonga road Offices in Kampala, the FDC Interim President Erias Lukwago, noted that Katonga leadership is given a period of six months to work on the dissolution of the party and declare a new one.

This is based on the outcomes of the concluded consultation meetings where out of 20 regions across the country 17 supported the formation of a new political party while only three opposed it.

Lukwago noted that after the six months period of initiating the formation of a new political party, the delegates once again will convene to announce a party name and elect new leaders.

Following the above resolutions, Lukwago’s leadership will remain in acting capacity for six months until they elect the new leadership.

The conference was attended by over 800 delegates.
