More than 180 opposition members from Bugangari Sub County Rukungiri district have crossed over to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
These were warmly received by the chairperson NRM Rukungiri district who is also the Minister for Security Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi at Bugangari Sub County headquarters.
In his address, Minister Jim Muhwezi expressed that the decision of these dynamic people to join NRM is opportune.
Muhwezi emphasized NRM’s reputation as the sole dependable and inclusive political party with a clear vision for community transformation.
Contrasting the frequent internal conflicts within the opposition, Hon. Jim asserted NRM’s open arms towards those eager to lead in addressing societal challenges.
He urged people not to be differentiated according to political affiliations but rather work together towards development of the district.

During the ceremony, the Rukungiri district woman Member of Parliament lauded President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for the efforts in empowering women whom she said were neglected by the previous regimes.

Johnes Byaruhanga Kibura representing members who crossed to NRM expressed eagerness to undertake any tasks assigned by the party leadership, affirming their readiness to learn and contribute.
